SI Poole, Bournemouth, Winchester & Thames Valley: working together

Dec2016_unsorted
Unsorted baby hats, blankets, bootees, and pullovers

Since April 2016 members of SI Poole, together with SI Bournemouth, friends and neighbours, have been meeting each month to knit and sew together baby hats, pullovers, blankets and bootees. To date, we have distributed 435 baby hats, 47 blankets, 71 hat & pullover sets, 13 pullovers and 19 pairs of bootees.

The photos show the latest batch, unsorted on my kitchen floor, then sorted with help from Jackie de Trafford, SI Poole. It includes donations from SI Winchester, as described in an earlier article, on 8 December 2016.  This batch was given to SI Thames Valley for their Kori project in Sierra Leone. We met up with members of SI Thames Valley on 17 December 2016 to hand over the items – and to have a convivial lunch!

Items have been sent to SI Kathmandu, to the Jungle in Calais, and to Poole Hospital as well as to Sierra Leone. The Excel spreadsheet shows how many items were sent to each destination.

This has been a magnificent example of cooperation between SI clubs (Bournemouth, Poole, Winchester), friends, neighbours etc. We will continue with this initiative in 2017.  Many thanks to all who have supported us.
