New Club for Southern Region!

Members of Southern Region turned out in force to welcome members of the newest Club to the Region in the beautiful setting of Salisbury Cathedral Cloisters on 3 August 2019. Every Southern England Club was represented and they were joined by members of a further 15 Clubs from across the Federation.

Kay Linnell from SI Winchester (left) performed the role of Toastmistress, welcoming the 150 guests and  introducing Regional President Barbara Watts (below) to read the Vision and Mission of Soroptimist International.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Federation President Sue Williams performed the official charter ceremony and told those present of the many and varied programme action projects already in progress in Salisbury.

Founder President Lisa gave her inaugural address, thanking Mother Club SI Winchester for their support and help and SI Bournemouth for their mentoring of SI Salisbury STEM Challenge.

The Mayor of the City of Salisbury, Councillor John Walsh added his welcome to the Club to the City and thanked the members for their active involvement in City partnerships.

 

 

 

The ceremony closed with Founder Members, joined by members of the Kate Edgar Singers, singing ‘Twenty First Century Woman’ by Joanne Forbes L’Estrange.

 

 

 

 

 

Most of the guests stayed to dinner in the Cathedral Cloisters which was a fun celebration for everyone. Each table was hosted by a Founder Member of the Club, giving everyone the chance to get to know our newest Southern Region Club better.

There has also been good coverage on the local Salisbury newspaper website.
