Since April 2016 SI Poole, together with SI Bournemouth, SI Winchester, assisted by family, neighbours and friends have been knitting baby hats, pullovers, blankets and bootees for the babies of Nepal affected by the earthquakes in April 2015. We have sent these ‘woollies’ by diverse means: by post, via friends, and via a trekking agency identified by SI Winchester.
Our efforts were recognised in a presentation given by SI Kathmandu at the SIGBI Conference in Malta. Now, to our great joy, SI Kathmandu have posted on their Facebook page the report of their visit to the Paropakar Maternity Hospital to distribute these items. The photos show SI Kathmandu members, nursing staff, mothers and babies. Can any of you identify items you have knitted?
Our project will continue in 2017, when, additionally, we will produce items for premature babies in Poole Hospital, and for elderly care home residents suffering from dementia.
