March – SISE region club donations/funding sent to SI Clubs in Ukraine and Moldova to enable local action
April and June – Foodbank Donations of Easter Eggs and Children’s Sun Cream to support Walton & Hersham foodbank needs
May – Booth at Oatlands Weybridge Village Fair for publicity and to sell beautiful craft items made in Maripela, South Africa who are supported by Soroptimists &
Tea & Temptations Fashion Show run in partnership with local boutiques and SI Woking, raised funding for Barbara Watts Volunteering in Pretoria Project
July – Pink TUK TUK ‘Dorothy’ purchased through the Rosie May Foundation (in our friendship region Sri Lanka) completing a 4yr project, Dorothy is now in full operation in Columbo enabling women’s prosperity and girls safety. A true legacy to a great Soroptimist Dorothy Clark MBE.
August – Jubilee Club Tea in Weybridge for the Platinum year raised significant funds to add to STEM PA Account
September – Regional Barbara Watts Project funding sent to support selected final year under privileged female school leavers into teaching by volunteer roles supported by local soroptimists in Pretoria south Africa
October – Target Ovarian Cancer club members and friends did a sponsored walk during Gynaecological Cancer month October raising charity funds
March and November – Leading community awareness with poster and walkabouts in Elmbridge ahead of and on UN #IWD 2022 International Women’s Day and Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women
November – Club Coffee Morning for Domestic Abuse Services & UN #Orangetheworld postering/banners throughout towns raised over £2100 for North Surrey Domestic Abuse
December – 21 Festive Elf Hats donated to Walton & Hersham Foodbank
January – Presentation of Cheque to North Surrey DA Team
February – Donation to a struggling SI Club to pay 50% of subscriptions for members in 2023/24 Year
March 2023 – 130 Easter Eggs donated to Walton & Hersham Foodbank
All year – individual SI members supporting refugees & asylum seekers and children in Surrey with Elmbridge CAN & Lobbying MPs, House of Lords, Local Councillors on women’s issues in our communities and nationally. Donations of personal care items at club meetings to Foodbanks.
Congratulations to all the Members on such a year of success, action and support to communities at local international and regional level. Sincere thanks to all the Officers who worked hard to maintain momentum, arrange speakers, plan and report meetings, update us all and help run the Club and to long standing members who continue to share their vision, expertise and knowledge to the club. We are delighted to welcome Mary, Caroline and Jean to our club for the year ahead.
