Member Jackie Orchard and her husband hold (and fund) an annual afternoon tea for the Second Chance Animal rescue centre in Southampton. Guests are not charged but encouraged to donate. Events 
this year have totalled £380.
Almost all the visitors were local to Southampton and were friends, neighbours and people they know through the various groups they attend via U3A. This year they also had some staff and volunteers from the charity which helped in sharing information about what they do.
There were 34 visitors and luckily a neighbour brought some extra chairs over. They were at capacity compared to last year for this informal event.
