Distribution of Charities


Francis House Cq Presentation
SI Ashton-under-Lyne held their annual Distribution of Charities night on Monday 7th April and President Jill is pictured here presenting a cheque for £2,957 to Francis House Hospice which was her designated charity for the year.

The cheque was received by Rev David Ireland on behalf of Francis House who are currently building a new annexe for teenage cancer sufferers. This is almost finished and an Open Day will be held on 14th May to celebrate the opening of this new facility.

Cheques were presented to other charities as follows:

Ace Centre Presentation£100 was presented to Steve Carroll, The Business Development Manager at Ace Centre UK.
Ace Centre is a national communications charity who help children and adults alike who cannot communicate in a normal way.

Blood Bikers Presentation£100 was presented to Paul and Kevin from North West Blood Bikers

Blood Bikers are volunteers who carry blood and other emergency items, free of charge to hospitals and hospices in the Greater Manchester area and beyond.

Br Legion Cq PresentationTwo cheques totalling £675 were presented to Colin Spencer from Stalybridge and Dukinfield Branch of the Royal British Legion, being the sum raised by four of our club members knitting poppies. The ladies concerned are Mildred Smith, Eileen Perfect, Joan Ollerenshaw and Loraine Gleave.

Brenda - for Stanley House

 

A cheques for £100 was also presented to The Stanley House Trust, which is the home of our meetings and the cheque was accepted on behalf of Stanley House by club member Brenda Tetlow.
