Our 2021 Friendship Evening was a great success even though the musician was unable to attend due to testing positive for Covid. The highlight of the evening was the welcoming into the Club of Sandra Towers. The photo includes Kath who introduced Sandra to the club, our President Val,  and Hilary our Membership Officer.

Sometimes you meet someone who is making a real difference.  Jane, from The Growing Club is such a woman. We heard about the difference she and the team were making to others at our monthly speaker meeting in November. The Growing Club is a not-for-profit organisation such provides a range of skills training and opportunities for women. Here is Jane with the current president Val and a member who has working Jane, Janet.

The summer outing took place on a warm and showery overcast day but that did not stop the enjoyment. Despite the country still being in the grip of the Covid pandemic there was a great turn out for the event.   A canal boat ride starting near Barton and wending it way through the bucolic scenery. The decorations were lavish. The roof of the boat decorated with balloons and ball in SI colours. Each table had a beautiful floral arrangement in a dainty China cup. But best of all were number shaped balloons to celebrate the SI centenary. Well done and many thanks to Janette for organising the event and arranging for the decorations.

On two dates, one in July and the other in August green fingered members of our club hosted an open garden event. Inviting friends and other members around to view their green endeavours and enjoy a cake and a coffee and chat-up. Over £1000 was raised. Well done to all who took part.

Often women arrive at the Lancaster Women’s Refuge with very little. So Lancaster Soroptimist were asked if that would provide a food pack. The pack contains basic items like tea, coffee, long-life milk, biscuits and a few easily prepared meals like soup and noodles. There is enough food for a few days. It is hoped this well allow the recipient time to settle.
