How did Soroptimists Support Business Challenge 2026?

Medway and Maidstone Soroptimists were one of 10 organisations in Maplesden Noakes Business Challenge. Providing a unique alternative to work experience dealing with real life challenges.

Our Challenge was to ‘Create and produce material to support the advancement of education particularly in relation to body dysmorphia in schools.’

Their brief was to:-

  • Market research into the area of topic.
  • Create educational resources for the Year group you feel best to target based on your research.
  • How this is impacting young people’s mental health and actions.
  • What can young people do and where they can seek help if they feel they are being negatively impacted.
  • Develop age-appropriate learning materials such as presentations, videos, posters, or other interactive activities.

Four members, Annette Davies, Angela Howe, Carol McKeough and Jane Barnes were involved in briefings, reviewing client reports and assessment of presentations.

We were impressed with the young people and what they achieved working effectively in a team and on a topic unfamiliar to them.

‘A huge thank you to all of you for giving up your time to support our students. We simply couldn’t run this competition without your commitment and encouragement, it is greatly appreciated. Thank you once again for helping to make this year’s Business Challenge such a success.’ Lorna Tansill Sixth Form Manager.
