The celebrations start today (UN World Day of Peace) worldwide for the Soroptimist Centennial with a candle lighting ceremony. At our Friendship Link Get Together last week, we celebrated early. Each of us held a candle and this was captured in a photo to be shared widely.
In the July edition of SEE News there was a report from Isobel Groves from SI Sevenoaks . It told us about their knitting efforts to support the Centenary Trauma Bear Appeal. Some of the Police contacts made were in the Swale area.
SI Medway and Maidstone Soroptimists, Angela Howe and Jane Barnes volunteered today. They took part in the monthly Gardening and Litter Pick Task Day at the Esplanade Gardens, Rochester.
At our July club meeting we had a presentation from member Sharon Forghani on Climate Change which was both interesting and thought provoking.
For the past 20 years Maidstone Soroptimists have been supporting the Jeevodaya Centre in Itarsi and one of the annual fundraising events organised has always been a Garden Party.
On 5th June, World Environment Day, SI Medway and Maidstone members met for the first time this year to celebrate our 75th anniversary at a Garden Party at a member’s house.
Early in April we read on SI Preston’s Facebook page about ‘Little Pack Big Impact’ the Medicine Pack Recycling Programme that Terracycle (https://www.terracycle.com/en-GB/brigades/medicine-packet-uk ) were involved with.
