National Remembrance Day 2020

Arrangements for the National Remembrance Day 2020 commemorations at the National Memorial Arboretum in Alrewas, are as follows:

National Remembrance Day - Photo of poppy field at sunsetA member of Midland Chase Region organises attendance at the National Memorial Arboretum, books the required number of car parking spaces and orders the wreaths.
Two wreaths are ordered.  One is for our Federation President and the other to represent the three Midland Regions (Midland Arden, Midland Chase and Midland East).  The cost of the wreaths is shared between the three Regions.
.
If the Federation President is unable to attend, then one Region President will lay the Federation President’s wreath, one Region President lays the Three Regions’ wreath and the third Region President will recite the Peace Pledge. There is a rota as to which Region President takes on each role.

We are allowed to attend the main Service if we arrive in time, and can watch the wreath laying at the Memorial Wall before going to the SIGBI Plot to lay our wreaths.

The present COVID-19 situation has limited the attendance permitted and precluded President Johanna Raffan from travelling to join us, however, she has asked Past President Isobel Smith to come in her stead.
