#Pledge2021 – My Pledge

2020 was anything but normal, yet in many ways it highlighted the need to look out for each other. So, we at SI Milton Keynes want to encourage people and children to make a pledge of kindness and hope. Whether it’s a one off or a regular pledge, let’s put something back into the community for Soroptimist International’s 100 birthday year.

As Princess Diana once said:

“Carry out a random act of kindness, with no expectation of reward, safe in the knowledge that one day someone might do the same for you.”

Below are some examples of pledges you can make once or for longer.

Remember this will make you feel good as well as the person (s) who receive this act of kindness. Click on the following Form #Pledge2021 to download the pledge form, complete it with your name and pledge and send it back to us at soroptimistsmk@gmail.com  so we can display them on our website and in our newsletter.  Help us reach 100 #Pledge2021 in 2021.  Show your kindness and make someone happy.

Here are just a few examples of what you could pledge:

  • Make yourself known to anyone elderly or vulnerable in your community so they have somewhere to turn if they need help
  • Volunteer within your community
  • Offer to buy a drink or some food for a homeless person
  • Help an elderly person with their shopping
  •  Smile and say hello to everyone you meet during your day
  • Give someone a compliment – it can make their day, week or year!
  • Share positive posts on your social media pages
  • Write a note of encouragement and place it inside a book or magazine in a waiting room
  • Let someone go in front of you in the queue
  • Go through your possessions and donate items you no longer use to charity
  • Support charities and good causes on your social media pages
  • Sign up to the organ donor register
  • Write a blog about kindness in society
  • Give blood
  • Donate coats and blankets to a homeless shelter
  • Cook a meal for someone else – e.g. deliver a lasagne to a new mother
  • Write positive online reviews for places you have visited or businesses you have gone to
  • Put your loose change in a charity box
  • Undertake a litter pick in your local area
  • Walk or cycle to reduce your carbon footprint

Happy Pledging everyone and here’s hoping for a happy 2021 for us all!
