What have we been doing?

What have we been doing?

During the last few years, members have been involved in lots of different activities, supporting various charities and groups through fundraising and in practical ways, but very much with a local focus. We have learned about the many problems and issues facing women and girls in our world,  and about the work being carried out in local secondary schools, through Young and Equally Safe around gender based violence. Several ‘orange cafes’ have been held to raise awareness of the issue of Violence Against Women.

Alongside this we have met with other Soroptimists at Conference and other meetings and events and enjoyed times of fun and friendship with each other.

Members have provided items and funds to the local Foodbank, Women’s Aid,  the STAR project and pants for Smalls for All. Knitted items have been produced and handed over to the neonatal unit at the local maternity unit, and small knitted hearts to the Hospice.
