United Nations International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women

 

Each year Renfrewshire Council marks the 25 November with a march through the streets of Paisley – Reclaim the Night

Due to Covid restrictions the march did not take place in 2020 and will not be held again this year.

   16 Days Of Action to Raise Awareness of Violence Against Women

25 November to 10 December 
A short ceremony will take place on Thursday 25 November, including the laying of a wreath in Dunn Square, Paisley to remember those who have lost their lives as a result of domestic violence.
Soroptimist International of Paisley have supported this event for a number of years including donating the wreath.

A number of buildings and structures across the Central Belt of Scotland will be floodlit orange or purple at the request of local Soroptimists.  These will include the bandstand in Johnstone, Renfrew Town Hall and the Bascule Bridge at Inchinnan

In addition members will mark the 16 Days of Action by wearing orange to a club meeting and donating ‘orange’ food items which will then be donated to  Renfrewshire Foodbank
