Funny Feet – October Meeting
Members supported the Eve Appeal who fund research into the 5 gynaecological cancers by wearing funny footwear to the monthly meeting and making a donation. £91.30p was raised.
The annual September White river Duckrace was won by Daphne’s duck, Joan’s duck was 3rd. £197 was raised for WaterAid, thanks to the Lions. Barbara and Carole ran a tombola each Wednesday at Charlestown Village Hall. Club members donated the items for the stall. Including donations £520 was raised and will be presented to Daphne Skinnard for the Phoenix Stroke Appeal. The profit from the Barn Dance to be held in Charlestown on Nov 10th will be divided between St Austell & Truro Womens Refuges. 3 members were to attend the Coffee Morning on 5th October in Truro hosted by the Team at the Truro Refuge to thank their supporters. Club members will be collecting for the foodbank on Sat 20th October to mark World Food Day. Programme Action Officer Catherine sent, from the club, a birthday card, dress and cardigan to South Africa for Sinegugu for her 11th birthday. We have sent the second installment of her school fees.
7 members are looking forward to attending the SIGBI Federation Conference at the end of the month in Belfast.
