Club Meetings

St Austell and District Soroptimists Club Meetings

Soroptimist Dawn’s informative talk

As well as fundraising, programme action events and social gatherings that we have throughout the year, on the first Thursday of each month all the members meet together at our ‘Club Meetings’. These provide an opportunity, not only to catch up with friends and other members but to plan and review all the action from the last month and going into the next. These meetings are held at Porthpean Golf Club at 7.30pm in the summer and 7.00pm in winter months, Since Covid we have embraced technology and run hybrid meetings allowing members join by Zoom.

What happens at a club meeting?

The meetings normally last 2 hours or less with a break  for refreshments and time to chat. It opens with a welcome from our President then follows the agenda updating all the members with what’s been happening locally and nationally with Soroptimists.

Sometimes there are featured speakers – perhaps someone from a local group that support – or we plan what we’re going to focus our campaign work around.

Everyone is very friendly and welcoming, and although these meetings are more formal (so that we stay on track) there’s still time to share and chat with fellow Soroptimists.

Who are club meetings for?

Normally they’re just for current members, we have lots of other events happening that we openly welcome guests and partners etc to. However, if you’re interested in becoming a member we’d be delighted if you’d like to attend one of our Club Meetings and see what it’s like and what happens.
