EDUCATE – EMPOWER – ENABLE
SI Sunderland’s Programme Action activities in 2019-20 will
- arrange fundraising events to support our President’s two chosen charities, The Three Tumours and Daft as a Brush Bluebell Bus Coastal Path Walk
- donate Christmas “shoe box gifts” to local charity IMPACT, for girls aged 11-14 who have suffered the effects of domestic violence in the home
- collect bras to be donated to local community interest company, BRAmnesty
- continue to align with Sunderland’s Youth Council on matters of common concern, particularly mental health in 2019-20
- continue to collect small change (5p and under) to donate to the President’s charity
- continue to collect recycled items for the Diamond Education Grant (including jewellery, watches, old bank notes/coins, computer games, mobile phones, cameras and other electronic gadgets)
- continue our Christmas gifts to Pauline’s People
- continue to carry out service work to support Cancer Research and Streetcare
- continue our awareness-raising work about the environmental problems associated with single-use plastics
- once again perform a Carol Concert to residents of Falstone Manor care home at Christmas
- continue involvement in the 16 Days of Action, to raise awareness of/ eradicate violence against women
- Facilitate the completion of our Lasting Legacy artwork at Keel Square, to commemorate the brave women who worked in Sunderland’s shipyards during WWII
In addition, members will also actively lobby in support of topics raised on the SIGBI website.
The Club will happily consider any other new projects brought forward by members throughout the year
