An extension of the Marys Meals Project that feeds over 1 million school children daily, our club supports the Marys Meals Backpack Project. This is a simple way to help children from poor families and allow them to make the most of their education.
They are a filled backpack which contains a set of clothes, a pair of sandals/flip flops, soap, towel, toothpaste, toothbrush, note book, filled pencil case, spoon, and small ball. These are for children age 5-12 years and are collected by this charity from a members house, sent to Glasgow and are then distributed to many parts of the world to support children in their education. Members collect items and also provide cash for necessary stock. We also receive donations from local schools and are always networking to spread the word and promote the charity.
Our club have supported this project since 2016. Last year 2018, we filled 230 Backpacks and this year 2019, we have already completed 140.
