Bridgend Soroptimists were delighted to be sharing the Christmas spirit again this year with gifts for those for whom this is a difficult time.
Members put together a selection of luxury toiletry items in pretty washbags beautifully wrapped with festive trimmings so that all the ladies in Bridgend Women’s Refuge had a personal pamper bag to open on Christmas Day. The children in the refuge weren’t left out either. Santa’s sack was filled with selection boxes, soft toys, jigsaws, books and other Christmas gifts.
Sharon Dixon delivered the gifts and said that the ladies at Llamau were very appreciative. “A little treat makes a big difference and it was wonderful to see the smiles as I handed over our gifts. I know it will add a bit of sparkle to Christmas Day!”
Bridgend Soroptimists have also been collecting children’s toys and books for the Sparkle Appeal. These items are distributed to families in the Bridgend, Pyle and Porthcawl area who are struggling at this expensive time of year. Our donations were again gratefully received.
And last but not least, Julie and Debbie joined President Sue to take gift bags and selection boxes to SPLICE Child and Family Project.

President Sue explains, “Thank you to all Bridgend members and also to Julie and Debbie for your help in wrapping the gift bags for the SPLICE Mums and the selection boxes for the children looked after by SPLICE. The ladies at SPLICE were so grateful and are able to give a gift to all the children and the mums in the families they look after. They really are an inspiration in what they do for people in need. children’s toys and books were collected for SPLICE Child and Family Project to be distributed amongst families in the area who are struggling at this expensive time of year.
“We’d also like to thank Liam Dixon, a generous friend and supporter of Bridgend Soroptimists, who added a large number of Selection boxes to our donation to SPLICE. – beautifully wrapped, really kind and generous of him.”
Happy Christmas everyone!
