Evening of Reflection

On Tuesday, 27 January, we were pleased to welcome Ann Keepax and Jan Hemlin from SI Solihull; Ann, with Jan’s support, very kindly came to facilitate an evening of reflection about our club and our activities.

After Ann had given us an overview of the way that SI Solihull operates, we organised five groups, each with a scribe, and the remaining members spent 10 minutes in each group to brainstorm ideas. The topics for the groups were:

  • Membership / Marketing & Communication (scribe Sue)
  • Food Security & Healthcare / Environ-mental Sustainability (scribe Jan)
  • Education / Economic Empowerment (scribe Faith)
  • Violence against Women (scribe Wendy)
  • Social & Fundraising / Friendship Links (scribe June)

The outputs from each group have been circulated by our secretary, Carol, and these will be discussed at the next Business meeting on 24 February. We will aim to decide which projects we wish to work on for 2015/16, and which to consider for future years.

We hope also to consider trying new ways of working, to improve our effectiveness and to raise our profile both locally and more widely.

Successful Bid

We applied to be one of SIGBI’s 30 “Growth Plan for Clubs’ pilot projects, and we are delighted to learn that we have been selected.  This means that our club will have the services of a Marketing & Growth constant, and we look forward to working with her to increase our membership and extend our activities so that we will truly make a difference in 2015.

As a club, we will all need to commit to the pilot; our success will be measured by our increase in membership, and our target will be at least 3 new members.

After completing the scheme, we will be asked to:

  • complete a questionnaire to evaluate the effectiveness of the pilot;
  • feedback our experience to our region.

New Member

We were delighted to welcome Isobel into the club on Tuesday 23 September, 2014.
