Year 6 pupils at Ysgol San Sior welcome us to their school to show us their progress with the Bee Project.
In 2012, Soroptimist International of Llandudno and District linked with Ysgol San Sior, Llandudno by presenting them with a ‘Bee project’ pack. On Thursday, June 13th, members of the club were invited to hold their meeting at the school in order to learn about all the work the children had undertaken to safeguard bees and other ECO projects.
Members enjoyed a presentation created by the children, and were amazed at how much the children had achieved in their enthusiasm to protect the ECO environment. The children are aiming to achieve rhese targets:
Elaine. our Programme Action officer, has worked hard to involve local schools with the Bee Project.
There followed a tour of the school environs to see all the different aspects of their work. Bee brooches knitted by members of the club had been sold and the school had bought lavender plants for the grounds to attract bees and other insects with the proceeds. President Gillian thanked the Headteacher, Mr Ian Jones and the children for a very enjoyable evening.

The club then went on to discuss many ongoing projects including Mary’s meals, Birthing in the Gambia, Story Bags and the Bagathon to be held outside Gregory’s Jewellers on July 20th, 10am – 4pm. Donations of bags and scarves are requested.
Arrangements were made for manning the Soroptimist International information tent at the Llangollen International Eisteddfod. Wednesday will see the Children’s Choir of the World winners being presented with a cup and prize donated by Soroptimist International of Cheshire, North Wales and the Wirral.
There will also be a cheese and wine evening at Adlington House,Rhos on Sea on July 15th .
The evening ended with President Gilllian cutting a birthday cake to celebrate a special birthday.
