Welcome back after the summer holidays
President Gillian welcomed members back after the summer break and hoped everyone was looking forward to starting the Autumn with renewed energies. Thanks were expressed to Elaine Bullock who raised £60, in aid of Birthing in the Gambia, by holding a bottle stall at St. George’s Church Centenary Fair.
Members had brought items to fill backpacks to send to the ‘Mary’s Meals’ project in Malawi. More goods are needed for children aged 4-10 years old. Each child will receive a big blue mug from the charity from which they will eat their ‘meal’. The meal they have is similar to porridge and members were urged to observe World Porridge Day on October 10th in support of the project. 93p of every £1 raised goes towards supporting the children, enabling them to have a wholesome meal and an education, a very worthwhile charity s Moregoodsare .
