Two members of Soroptimist International, Nottingham – Beth Tate and Lesley Steele – have been awarded a medal by the Lord Mayor of Nottingham, Merlita Bryan, for their outstanding contribution to women’s liberation.
Both were interviewed for the WoLAN project; Women of Liberation and beyond in Nottingham, which is the subject of an exhibition at the County Library on Angel Row tracing the history of the Women’s Movement in Nottingham from the 1960s to the present day. The Project was carried out by staff at the Nottingham Women’s Centre and funded by a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund.
