2025 Events, 2023 Events 19/12/24 Christmas Presents Ann and Eva organised the conversion of Christmas donations, whether in cash or kind into 32 beautifully wrapped delivered presents for the refugees and refuge. Remaining funds were reserved to buy necessities for Women's Aid Refuge. Congratulations to both. 18/12/24 Jingle MINgle at MIN Daphne enjoyed Mums in Need's Christmas Jingle MINgle, she was able to explore the new offices and meet members staff and case workers. 19/11/24 Past Lord Mayor of Sheffield Sioned-Mair Richards braved the snow to describe not only highlights of her year as Lord Mayor of Sheffield but also used archived logs to detail experiences of past President Mrs Longden the first Lady Lord Mayor of Sheffield (1936-1937)  Many thanks to a great speaker. 22/10/24 Sheaf and Porter Rivers Trust Professor Liz Sharp gave an engaging and informative talk on the work of the Sheaf

2025 Events, 2024 Events 13/12/23 Christmas Supper Congratulations to President Sue and Anne for organising such a successful Christmas Supper, including a quiz – more challenging than first expected. Special thanks to Jackie for the pretty chocolate favours. 21/11/23 Temple Spa Evening Fun and fund raising at November's supper evening. Thanks to Nicola and Louise, great ambassadors for Temple Spa, who ensured that we all enjoyed the test kits. The raffle raised £92 for Mums in Need. Congratulations to the organisers 17/10/23 Purple Party In Aid of Lost Chord, a nation wide Dementia Charity. Everyone was resplendent in purple to celebrate our fund raiser for Lost Chord, a charity that raises money to enable musicians to meet with sufferers of dementia and through music entertain and enable them to enjoy music. 2025 Meetings, 2023 Meetings 14/06/25 RCM and Friendship Day at Wentworth Woodhouse. The sun shone, the rooms impressive, the gardens interesting, the delicious food served efficiently by friendly staff at the Yorkshire RCM held at Wentworth Woodhouse.After coffee and registration the brief RCM comprised of reading of recirculated reports followed by a moving illustrated talk by poet Chaucer Cameron and Helen Dewbury about the dangers vulnerable women risk. Chaucer read a poem to video “In an ideal World I would not be murdered.”based on her experiences. The morning finished with an impassioned and inspirational talk by Sarah Mcloud, CEO of Wentworth Woodhouse Preservation Trust relating the aims, difficulties, achievements and experiences met in the restoration.After lunch, the 82 delegates where able to either take a guided tour of the gardens or to explore the house and amenities.A good time was had by all, congratulations to

2025 Meetings, 2024 Meetings 06/11/23 Lady Mayoress presents Orange Poster Design awards Our November business meeting was enlivened by the presence of Mrs Susan Ross, Lady Mayoress, and winners of the Orange Poster Competition to whom she presented awards and prizesCongratulations to all the worthy winners. New Member: We were all also delighted to welcome our new member Lynne. 06/06/23 Iffat's Story Iffat told the story of her life since coming to Sheffield. She inaugurated Urdu programmes on local BBC and as a teacher won the right for Asian girls to have further education at Sheffield schools. She has been awarded an MBE and also two awards from local radio for her inspirational programmes. She described the stages it took to reach these achievements and showed us her awards. President’s Message

President’s Message

 It is an honour to be President of SI Sheffield again. I was President in 1992 -93 and again in 2015- 16 and briefly in 2017-8 when we had a shared Presidency. This will be the first time as far as I know that we have had a joint Presidency and I am honoured to share this with Gail.  I am very grateful to Daphne who like Gail and I, was not thinking she would volunteer to be President last year– but volunteer she did and she has done a marvellous job. In our 99th year  we will continue to have good meals together, listen to interesting speakers and work towards Soroptimist goals. Currently Gail and I do not as yet have a joint charity for the year but during 2026-7 we will of course continue to support Winn Gardens, the Refuges and Prior Bank. We will also
