What do we do?

Celebrating 100 Years of Soroptimism 1921-2021

 

Soroptimists in Sheffield have helped with the following various charitable activities:

At the LOCAL level we –

  • Support two local Women’s Refuges with regular donations
  • Support the Snowdrop Project for trafficked women
  • Raise money for Madam President’s charities by organising social events.
  • Give donations to the Archer project – looking after homeless people locally
  • Raise awareness of Trafficking by having a stall at Sheffield University during Fresher’s Week and at the Winter Gardens on Human Rights Day.
  • Support a local residential Care Home
  • Work with Y12/13 girls from local schools to Share Our Skills
  • Support and raise awareness of International Women’s Day
  • Organise Christmas bags/boxes for the women and children at the Refuges

At the NATIONAL level we –

  • Support the Regional and Federation President’s charities
  • Make donations to SIGBI Benevolent fund
  • Work with Girl Guides discussing careers
  • Work with Girl Guides to increase awareness of grooming and slavery

At the INTERNATIONAL level we –

  • Support  Water Aid by sending donations
  • Raise money for the education of women and girls in Pakistan via SI Karachi
  • Send donations to the International President’s Appeal
  • Organise activities, social events and suppers raising awareness and money for various causes
  • Raise money for AfriPads and SI Masaka
