Big Breakfast Club

Our support for this charity dates back to March 8th 2009 when as part of our Saturday of Service,  5 club members attended the Big Breakfast Club as it was then known to help in the kitchen and talk to the homeless people attending.

The club runs from 7.00 a.m. to 9.00 a.m., providing a hot meal and cereal to the homeless and vulnerable people of Swindon.

Faitrade bananasCoinciding with Fairtrade Fortnight we purchased and distributed Fairtrade bananas which were much appreciated.

As a direct result of that service we decided as a club to make a regular commitment one Saturday a month to volunteer as part of the kitchen team.

Earlier this year Big Breakfast Plus celebrated 25 years of service in Swindon and we were honoured to be invited to the event and had a marvellous time, as well as being pleased to meet the mayor and PCC

SI Swindon member Valerie Nuttall with
Councillor Ali Junab, Mayor of Swindon,
Angela Butler (Volunteer) and Angus Macpherson, Police and Crime Commissioner for Wiltshire

in 2019 we again marked Fairtrade Fortnight by giving bananas and also chocolate and cocoa to the clients at Big Breakfast Plus.  The charity now resides in an improved location at ‘The Haven’.
