Presentation Evening 2017


Groupnews17_SwimathonPresentation-1009x438The presentations of trophies to winning teams and cheques to the four charities took place on Friday 28th April at Cheddon Fitzpaine Memorial Hall. Joint President Jane Fitzgerald and Swimathon Co-ordinator, Christine Briggs, welcomed all winning team members and friends and charity representatives. Christine announced the total raised this year was £16,463.68 and over its 29 year history the grand total raised by the Swimathon is £610,895.02!

This year there were 55 teams, 315 swimmers and 2,955 laps (92 miles!) swum.

Taunton Deane MP, Rebecca Pow, presented the trophies to members of the winning teams and presented a cheque for £4,115.92 to each of the charity representatives.

One of the swimmers from "Shark Willmott" of Clark Willmott receive one of their 2 trophies of the evening for the Chamber of Commerce Team swimming the most laps (71).  They also won the trophy for the legal team raising the most money.
The Willow Wave Makers receive two NHS Trophies for swimming the most laps by any NHS Somerset Team and the Taunton and Somerset Trust Team (48)  They also received the Hilary Smith Trophy for the NHS Team raising the most money.
Stand Against Violence receive the trophies for the single team and the first time entrants raising the most money.
Milsted Langdon, one of our sponsors, represented by a member of Team C who won the Accountancy Trophy
Members of the Hydro Sharks team from the uK Hydrographic Office won 2 trophies - most laps swum overall (86) and most laps swum by a non swimming club team
CT2 from Taunton Deane Swimming Club received 3 trophies for the team swimming the 2nd highest number of laps, the under 13s and the under 18s swimming the most laps (85)
The Murwells receive their trophy for the Family Team swimming the most laps (47)
Some of the North Town All Stars one of 3 teams entered by North Town Primary School who won the Taunton School Junior Cup for the Primary School Team swimming the most laps (53)
St George's Dolphins who won the Soroptimist Committee Special Award for the team showing special effort.
Members of the Reminisicence Learning team who won the Team with a Theme Trophy for their entry "The Russian Dolls"
Lentalls Accountants receiving the Mayor's Cup for long term support of the event
