WELCOME TO SI ABERDEEN

Soroptimist International Aberdeen is part of a worldwide volunteer organisation for women who want to transform the lives of other women and girls.

We want to make a difference!

Our Aberdeen club has been around for 95 years currently with a membership of around 25 women from different backgrounds. We are involved in a range of voluntary activities including providing practical support for local, national and international projects. We also meet regularly to hear a variety of speakers representing a wide range of charities and organisations.

We continue to support Grampian Women’s Aid http://www.grampian-womens-aid.com and the Aberdeen Cyrenians http://www.weareac.org locally. In recent years members were successful in reaching their fundraising target for the Rosie May Foundation, an international charity which, besides other projects, helps to provide ‘Think Pink’ Tuk Tuks for women drivers in Sri Lanka. http://www.rosie-may.com

We also distributed funds to Aberlour Trust, a Scottish charity helping disadvantaged children and families have a brighter future, to Strut Safe, an initiative to help anyone who feels unsafe when walking in public, and to Smart Works, a charity that gives unemployed women the clothes, coaching and confidence to secure employment and change their lives.

We have also donated to Chest, Heart and Stroke http://www.chss.org.uk , Aberdeen Action on Disability http://aad-online.com ,the local Woodside Womens Group, Say Women, a Glasgow based charity providing accommodation for young women victims of sexual assault http://www.say-women.co.uk , to MISS and SANDS http://www.sands.org.uk local baby memorial garden http://www.miss-support.org.uk and to Aberdeen Cyrenians Womens Group for Christmas goody bags. http://www.weareac.org
