Members of Cannock Soroptimist International have volunteered as ‘bag packers’ prior to the race day and as marshals at the race itself. Both activities have been great fun and our efforts have been appreciated not only by the organisers but also the participants. They have loved the way Soroptimists cheered them on and directed them early in the bike trace, when they had completed the swim at Chasewater.
Each year the organisers made a financial donation to the club, the stipulation being that it must be used for local people in need. Cannock Soroptimists have donated their ‘earnings’ to Staffordshire Women’s Aid and the Pathway project to provide support for women suffering from or leaving a situation of domestic abuse.
