Crosby’s Soroptimists can be proud of their many decades of service to the older members of our local community.
Our club’s latest link is through Re-engage, Crosby. This charity aims to provide life-enhancing social connections for older people at a time in their lives when their social circles are diminishing.
It does this through a weekly lunch club at Waterloo United Free Church and through ‘Flicks and Friends’, a monthly film screening at the Plaza Cinema. Soroptimists play a key role in both activities.
Members provide a team on a four-weekly rota to the lunch club, where older people enjoy a cooked meal and the opportunity to enjoy lively conversation and make new friendships. There is always the possibility of special celebrations, too, such as the Coronation and Christmas.
We also volunteer at ‘Flicks and Friends’, and support Re-engage staff with local knowledge and advice.
