Each year on Human Rights Day member Doreen Whelbourn (left) hosts a “frugal lunch” of bread, cheese and water and we pack presents we have bought for young people leaving care who have no family to buy them a gift. The presents (25 for girls and 25 for boys) are distributed with the help of Social Services.
We pay for our lunch and this money with other donations from members goes to the Soroptimist International President’s Appeal. For 2015 to 2017 this is “Educate to Lead – Nepal”
By uniting the four Soroptimist Federations, ‘Educate to Lead: Nepal’ is able impact the lives of over 1,000 women and girls in Nepal. There are many women and girls that need help – these are ‘Our women and girls’”
