President Maureen: the last business meeting of her presidential year.
President Maureen welcomed members to a packed meeting at Stella Maris. She gave an especial welcome to six members transferring from S.I. Colwyn Bay; and Celia Blomeley was enrolled as a full member of the club. She was introduced to the club by Sandra Snow and Helen Keep.
The poetry books created in conjunction with the guides had raised £100, and this will be presented at the A.G.M. £860 had been raised for the St. David’s Hospice, from the sale of knitted daffodils made by club members. President Maureen wished to thank everyone who had contributed to this wonderful effort. £135.05 had been raised for water aid at a coffee morning in President elect Mary’s home.
Jubilee Bookmarkers have been produced at a craft evening at the President’s home. They will be sold in aid of the Soroptimist Diamond Education Project.
News had been received from the friendship link in Pendleside and the Belvedere Club in Vienna. It is hoped that a sponsored walk for Gambia can take place liaising with some of our friendship link clubs, it will be titled ‘Walking the World’
Due to expanding membership this was the last meeting to be held at Stella Maris. President Maureen expressed her thanks that the club had been allowed to hold their meetings at such a good venue.
The next meeting will be the A.G.M. on April 19th at St. David’s Hall, Penrhyn Bay. Those attending the pre meeting buffet should arrive 6 p. m. for 6.30 p.m.
