Students signing the petition to “Stop the Trafficking”

As part of Soroptimist International Membership Month, members went to Llandrillo College to spend the day asking students and staff to sign the Purple Teardrop Campaign petition against Modern Day Slavery. It was a good opportunity to invite them to join us at our Club’s Open Meeting on 26th May.

CHERNOBYL CHILDREN’S LIFELINE

Gerrie Bayley, Chairperson of Chernobyl Children’s Lifeline North Wales Link, came to speak to the Club on 12th May.

It is 30 years since the disaster and the  charity organises for a group of children to visit North Wales every summer which gives a boost to their failing immune systems and gives them a much needed holiday. The children are still living in areas affected by the radiation and often in poverty.

Llandudno Soroptimists help with the holiday for the Chernobyl Children in North Wales and fund raise to improve sanitation in the schools in the Ukraine.

TREASURE CHEST BREAST CANCER SUPPORT GROUP

Also this month, Pat, one of our club members visited a meeting of the supporters of Treasure Chest, where she presented a cheque for £680 on behalf of SI Llandudno. This was money collected from the sale of knitted daffodil brooches. They were delighted with our generous donation.
