Business meeting on June 7th At the business meeting held on 7th June, members were given a brief talk about the forthcoming trip to Llangollen Canal by tour guide and SI Rhyl Soroptimist, Lynne Bellis. President Mary inducted a new member, Sue Cobley, who was introduced by Joanne Narey. The beach clean was enjoyable and productive- ten bin bags full of rubbish and debris were collected. Several members including President Mary went on the Regional Jubilee River Trip on the River Dee and had a good time.  The club was pleased to know that St George’s School in Llandudno are going to participate with them in the Soroptimist Bee Project.   Members were asked to consider collecting items for backpacks for Mary’s Meals– helping children in the third world, silver coins towards the Soroptimist 3E Project and food items for Conwy Food Share. The business meeting held on May 3rd was the club’s first with newly inducted President, Mary Longworth. Mary and two others attended the Women’s Aid AGM at the Queen’s Hotel Llandudno on 26th April, as the club support the organisation. Members are looking forward to the beach clean on May 26th and to the summer outing in July to Pontcysyllte Aquaduct. Here we are cleaning the beach on the North Shore of Llandudno:                   The speaker at the meeting on May 17th was Eleri Brady, who is the fundraiser in this area for MacMillan Cancer Support. President Mary has chosen MacMillan as her charity for this year so it was interesting to hear about the wide variety of their work. The Change of Insignia: Immediate Past President Maureen presents the chain of office to incoming President Mary. President Mary presents the President Elect’s chain to Gillian. President Maureen welcomed members to the AGM which was held at St. David’s Church Hall,PenrhynBay. The President thanked all the members for their friendship, support and help during the year. The club had enjoyed a variety of activities and had listened to many interesting speakers and a total of £6,114.70 had been raised for local and international charities. She was delighted that she had been able to support her nominated charity ‘Happy Faces’ with a £2,560 donation as well as supported many worthy causes during the year. here are some of the recipients receiving their cheques: St. David’s Hospice:  The money was raised by selling daffodils knitted by members, and here is one of our younger helpers!      President Maureen: the last business meeting of her presidential year.  President Maureen welcomed members to a packed meeting at Stella Maris. She gave an especial welcome to six members transferring from S.I. Colwyn Bay; and Celia Blomeley was enrolled as a full member of the club.  She was introduced to the club by Sandra Snow and Helen Keep. The poetry books created in conjunction with the guides had raised £100, and this will be presented at the A.G.M. £860 had been raised for the St. David’s Hospice, from the sale of knitted daffodils made by club members. President Maureen wished to thank everyone who had contributed to this wonderful effort. £135.05 had been raised for water aid at a coffee morning in President elect Mary’s home. Jubilee Bookmarkers have been produced at a craft evening at the President’s home. They will be sold in aid
