The Surjit Athwal murder has been described as a Landmark Case where a conviction was obtained against all odds. You might sometimes wonder what Past Regional Presidents do? Well, they meet for lunch and remember the good times or should we say pre COVID times!  If you like lunching and reminiscing the soroptimist way then being a regional president is another excuse for lunching.  Here is evidence that soroptimists have fun……………Alexis, Sue P & Tracy, Anne, Ruth (had so much fun she is currently SIGBI Finance Director), Tracy, Sue D & Danny, Sylvia – the one with a bottle of water, hmm?  Danny & Liz who seem to have been caught in serious mode or clearly need another glass of something? (As a Past SIGBI President, Liz is well practiced surely?)

The coronavirus pandemic self-isolation is resulting in increased reports of domestic violence in the home – which ought to be the safest place right now. This makes disturbing reading and impacts on services which are already stretched and can only respond by increasing online support, set up emergency warning systems in pharmacies and grocery stores to reach those in need. When it comes to standing up for women, we at the Soroptimist International club of Winchester do our bit. At present we are sending additional donations to the Winchester Women’s Refuge, the Trinity Centre and the Night Shelter. It is a difficult time and many of our charities have suffered from a slow-down in funding. Recently we were able to deliver picnic items and games to the women and children at the Winchester Women’s Refuge. We have supported them for many years. The picnic was

Barbara Watts, SI Epsom reports: ‘We had hoped that Mia Wallis, our Volunteering in Pretoria (VIP) volunteer, would arrive in Johannesburg in October, but because of unfortunate delays in obtaining a visa, she finally left on December 11th.  She arrived tired, but excited and was met by Sally Currin, PP SISA and SI Pretoria Tshwane.   Mia spent Christmas and the New Year with club members and began work at Makgatho Primary School on January 11th.  She is loving it!  Contact is difficult because of the lack of wi-fi, but the following messages and pictures tell their own story. Mia Wallis Monthly Report My day starts at around 6.30am which is the time I usually wake up for work in the morning (this took some getting used to as I am not really a morning person). My morning routine is the same every day and this
