We have all been shocked and saddened by recent events in Afghanistan. And we are particularly concerned about the impact they may have on the lives of women and girls there. So we have been writing to our local MPs asking them to do all they can to ensure to the UK continues to support Afghan women and girls in whatever way it can. We were pleased to receive positive responses but the crisis in Afghanistan far from over. We were extremely concerned to read the latest reports that women are being forced to abide by a strict dress code and that girls have been prevented from continuing with their education. We will continue to press for the UK’s continued action to protect the lives and futures of women and girls there.
