Swindon Soroptimists gathered ‘on the Bridge’ in Swindon on March 8th again this year, to celebrate International Women’s Day. It was pouring with rain and we got very wet. The Swindon Advertiser kindly turned up for a photo shoot and interview, which we were very pleased about, as it gave us much needed publicity. We demonstrated with placards against trafficking and violence towards women in all its forms. In support of Poole Club’s Purple Teardrop Campaign we asked passers-by to sign a petition calling on the government to introduce legislation which will make it illegal for sex for sale advertisements to appear in the media.
