The Mayor of Wolverhampton Cllr Greg Brackenridge with the display.

S I Bilston & District members invited the Mayor, Councillor Greg Brackenridge to launch their #International Women’s Day display in Bilston Library to recognise local inspirational women, past and present. The Mayor congratulated the club on it’s achievements and the contribution Bilston Soroptimists make to Bilston and Wolverhampton. Whilst recognising the role of women the Mayor spoke passionately about how the number of women in his profession (fire fighting) had grown over the years. But also that there is much work still to be done to balance gender equality.

The display is in Bilston Library until 14th March 2022 showcasing women, past and present, who have achieved including Gwen Stafford Good, Julie Walters, Vi Elsmore and Betty Boothroyd to name but a few.

Grateful thanks to the Mayor, Councillor Olivia Birch who also joined the event and to Bilston Library for accommodating the display.
