My name is Cherril Pritchard and I have the privilege of being the 79th President of S.l.Bilston
I joined the West Bromwich Soroptimist sisters in September L998, then later moved to Smethwick
club and when it closed I joined S.l.Bilston. I have had many roles in Soroptimism at Club, Regional
and Federation level (Councillor), always enjoying the challenge that these various posts bring.
I am extremely proud of my Black Country roots, my grandad was a master brick maker and my nan
had a small chain shop and made links of chain. She joined Mary Macarthur from Scotland (who
came to Cradley Heath) and was involved in the first women’s strike for better pay and conditions
(nothing changes).
My aim for the year is service, fun and friendship. We paid a visit to John’s Garden at Ashwood
Nurseries and it was enjoyed by all. We as a Club are also involved in the Ukraine project in
Wolverhampton, making promotional ribbons, shoe boxes for the traumatised children and much
more.
I hope my year will be a great success and it won’t be for the want of trying!
Yours in friendship
President Cherril
