Region Meeting and AGM Saturday 18thSeptember at Coleg Cambria Deeside.
Club members from across the Region met today for the first Face to face meeting since lockdown.
President Louise had planned a busy and varied day based on her theme for the year ‘Looking Back, Moving Forward’ but allowed plenty of time for members to catch up with each other over lunch.
The morning began with four clubs presenting past or current projects they think are specially worth celebrating in the Soroptimist Centenary year.
Ellesmere Port and District reported on their involvement with an inspiring mental health project ‘Flyn’s Port in a Storm Crisis Café’.
Bebington club gave an account of their long – term involvement and work with Clatterbridge Cancer Centre and St John’s Hospice on the Wirral
Northwich and District reported on their work with Women in Foston Hall Prison and how this project began, continued and was finally passed to a club nearer to the prison.
Runcorn, Frodsham & District recalled an early project when club members volunteered to train in transcribing books into Braille for the National Library for the Blind in Manchester.

Shirley Jones (SI Rhyl) and Federation Safeguarding Officer then gave us an update on the next pillar of the SIGBI strategic Plan ‘Moving Forward’. The key message that came from that is ‘Programme Action’ is our dialogue’ when attracting members to Soroptimist International.
The morning session ended with the presentation by Region Membership Officers Jenny and Penny of the Region Membership Award given to the club that has achieved the biggest net membership – this time it went to SI Bebington.
After lunch President Louise cut a Centenary Celebration cake, and before the commencement of the AGM the Region gave an enthusiastic 100thBirthday greeting to Soroptimist International!
The day concluded with the Region AGM when Officer Reports were accepted and as all Officers are continuing in their roles just one ballot was held which resulted in Gillie O’Rourke being voted in as the Region Vice President.
