The Region Meeting was held on 8th June 2019 at Cheshire View COME FLY WITH ME   We were joined by Claire Hatton from The British Women Pilots’ Association who gave a really interesting talk about her work as a flying instructor and an insight into women in aviation. Zoe Bowers Region President Pam’s daughter then gave an interesting talk about the difference between STEM & STEAM – Presidents Pam’s theme for the year The Business Meeting took place after lunch.  Region Programme Action Officers Sian and Esther introduced us to our newest member Poly De La Mere! Poly has joined today because she knows we are very worried about plastic pollution and wants to help. Region clubs will be collecting plastic milk bottle tops over the coming months and will bring to the next Region Meeting in September The Communication team introduced the new way forward

The Region Meeting was held on 16th February at The Imperial Hotel, The Promenade, Vaughan Street, Llandudno, LL30 1AP The meeting began at 10am with Coffee, where we held a Tombola in support of OAKS Charity and raised £117, thanks to all who helped and those who supported. The Region Council Meeting began at 10.30 where we looked at President Pam’s Theme for the Year STEAM – Science Technology Engineering Arts Mathematics Our Guest Speaker at 11.15am Was Mrs Laurel Parkinson Director of Education for OAKS (Overseas Aid for Kids in Sierra Leone) which is President Pam’s chosen charity for the year. Laurel is an experienced educator, passionate about OAKS, of which she has been a Trustee/Director for the past 11 years. Laurel gave a really interesting and inspiring  talk about OAKS and the wonderful achievements of the students After a working Lunch there was time for Planning and Discussion Membership

The Change of Insignia took place on Saturday 17th November 2018 at the Holiday Inn, Ellesmere Port. This year, for the first time, the Annual Christmas Fair, raising funds for the Cheshire Show took place in the morning, then a delicious Christmas lunch. The Region meeting and Change of Insignia started at 1.45pm with a slideshow of photos taken at Liverpool Conference, thanks to all clubs who sent in photos We had an excellent meeting where we thanked IP Region President Hilary Laidler for a great year – Hilary thanked her Officers and all Club Members for their support The Insignia was exchanged again for the benefit of all Region members who were unable to attend Conference and the Region Congratulated Region President 2018-2019 Pam Cheesley-Hollinshead and wished her a fabulous year leading our Region. Brooches for Water, Women & Leadership

Cheshire North Wales & Wirral brooches have to date raised over £5500 Our blue sparkly brooches are raising funds around the world. Hilary Laidler has been sending North, South, East & West – from Madagascar to Alaska, from Scandinavia to Europe, from the United Kingdom to Australia. International President Mariet has also made at least the equivalent funds by selling the brooches as she has travelled the world. Members of the Soroptimist Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod Committee,  with Chairman Jenny Wilson seen here presenting a cheque for £500 to International President Mariet Verhoef-Cohen for Women, Water and Leadership Appeal at the Soroptimist Conference Liverpool 2018. This money was raised earlier in the year when the committee held an Afternoon Tea/Fashion show at Eaton Park, Cheshire by kind permission of the Duke of Westminster. Members in the photo, are Denny Owen, Susan Jones, SI President Mariet, Jenny Wilson, Eirwen Kenrick, Hafdis Karlsdottir (Assit. Director of Advocacy) and Esther Roberts.

Congratulations to our Region LIME – Llangollen International Eisteddfod Committee on a successful Eisteddfod Each year Soroptimists from Clubs throughout the Region enjoy running the Friendship and Information Centre at the prestigious Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod. Here we showcase our projects with an excellent display stand, and we greet visitors from around the world who come to this wonderful event. This year we sponsored a young choir “The Moravian Folk Choir” For more information and photos click here
