The Region Meeting was held on 16th February at The Imperial Hotel, The Promenade, Vaughan Street, Llandudno, LL30 1AP
The meeting began at 10am with Coffee, where we held a Tombola in support of OAKS Charity and raised £117, thanks to all who helped and those who supported.
The Region Council Meeting began at 10.30 where we looked at President Pam’s Theme for the Year STEAM – Science Technology Engineering Arts Mathematics
Our Guest Speaker at 11.15am Was Mrs Laurel Parkinson Director of Education for OAKS (Overseas Aid for Kids in Sierra Leone) which is President Pam’s chosen charity for the year. Laurel is an experienced educator, passionate about OAKS, of which she has been a Trustee/Director for the past 11 years. Laurel gave a really interesting and inspiring talk about OAKS and the wonderful achievements of the students
After a working Lunch there was time for Planning and Discussion
Membership & Development Officers’ Kathryn Lewis and Caroline Lightfoot-Smith held a lively and interesting workshop looking at increasing our membership
Programme Action Officer’s Sian Kent and Esther Roberts gave us valuable information about the UN Sustainable Development Goals and the 5 x P’s = People – Planet – Prosperity – Partnerships – Peace. A lively and interesting discussion followed where members placed their Project work under these categories.
