Soroptimist International SI Chester Book Club

Range of books enjoyed at book club
If you enjoy reading, join our book club!

SI Chester book club meets at a different members’ house or in a virtual meeting to discuss a book chosen by members.  Reading these books is a great way to gather different perspectives.  It informs us in our Soroptimist work and is also an interesting and fun activity. We have learnt about other cultures and experiences, as well as providing thought-provoking discussions for members and friends.

SI Chester book club is open to members and non-members. This allows us to discuss different perspectives and perceptions of the books and also has helped to promote the Soroptimist name more widely in our networks.

The range of books that have been discussed autobiographical works such as ‘My Life on the Road’ by Gloria Steinem, ‘How to be a Woman’ by Caitlin Moran, fiction novels such as ‘The Color Purple’ by Alice Walker and ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ by Margaret Atwood, plus non-fiction works such as ‘Half the Sky’ by Nicholas D. Kristof and Sheryl Wudunn.
