The 2012 Annual General Meeting of Soroptimist International of Crosby once again culminated in the Change of Insignia ceremony.
In a wide-ranging speech, outgoing President Sandy Taylor chronicled her term of office. She recounted the many memorable events, thanked everyone for making the year so productive, and highlighted members’ support for her projects at Alder Hey Hospital’s cardiac unit. “This is a club that thrives on the active friendliness of its members,” she said, “and I am positive its warm, welcoming atmosphere is the reason we now have six new Crosby Soroptimists.”
Sandy went on to say how immensely privileged she felt to have been entrusted with the role of President. She then warmly welcomed incoming President Yvonne Atkinson and passed to her the Club’s beautiful chain of office.
President Yvonne’s first task was to present Immediate Past President Sandy with her badge, Terry Francis (President-Elect) with her medallion, and Pam McKee (Vice-President) with the Chichester pin.
One of SI Crosby’s new honorary life members, Shirley Smith, led the Candle Ceremony. As the candles are lit, members are reminded of the principles that Soroptimists hold dear – including commitment to service in the community, international goodwill, tolerance and friendship.
