Welcome to Soroptimist International Epsom and District – a local member of the Soroptimist International Great Britain and Ireland (SIGBI) family of women supporting women and girls.
We are a friendly, dedicated group of women from various backgrounds and of different ages, helping women and girls who may be suffering from abuse, suppression, lack of freedom, lack of education, and poverty.
As members of our global organisation, Soroptimist International, we try in any way we can, to raise awareness, develop a wider understanding of the issues, raise funds, lobby the powerful, and offer aid, assistance and protection to all our sisters in need.
As the local Club of Soroptimist International, our work contributes to the standing of Soroptimist International as a non-governmental organisation with consultative status at the United Nations. Our project work known as Programme Action, meets the criteria within the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) which you can find on this link: https://sdgs.un.org/goals
We use our time and skills to benefit women and girls. If you look at the Club Menu at the top right of this page and click on Programme Action, you will see the projects that we have been involved with. But it isn’t all work! Members have fun and find friendship and mutual support when needed. There are opportunities to develop knowledge, skills, experiences and to achieve goals personally and as a group.
We welcome visitors and warmly invite new members. We currently have members from Epsom, Leatherhead, Dorking, Chessington and Tadworth.
Monthly business meetings are held on either Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday evenings on Zoom and include discussion and speakers. Programme Action meetings are face to face on Saturdays, once a month. Our programme of events is publicised here: Club Programme 2023-24
