Grange Soroptimists and guests totalling 60 people came together to celebrate Burns Night at Cartmel Village Hall and raised a fantastic sum of £586.30 for Springfield Women’s refuge in Kendal.
The haggis was expertly piped in by Mervyn Hamilton and Stan Robinson addressed the haggis . Everyone enjoyed the food and the speeches. Lesley Smyth did the Immortal memory, Alastair Allan the toast to the lassies and Cathy Lubelska replied with a witty poem. The evening was rounded off with singing lead by Dot Davies with Barry Sharkey providing expert piano accompaniment, then we had a quick dance and Auld Lang Syne. Many members worked hard to make it all happen and the club was grateful for the support from fellow Soroptimists , friends and family!
