Celebrating 25 years

On Friday June 2nd we gathered together with fellow Soroptimists from across the Midland Chase Region to celebrate our 25 years as a Soroptimist Club with a silver anniversary Charter Dinner at the Whittington Heath Golf Club.

Immediate Past President Carolyn Hagyard welcomed guests including Wendy and Cheryl Sherratt, Jackie Baines and Janet Winter who, along with Carolyn, were all founder members of our club 25 years ago back in May 1998.

We were also joined by SIGBI Past President 2019-2020 Isobel Smith from SI Solihull, who paid a moving tribute to our founder President Angela Reynolds who we sadly lost just a few weeks ago. We toasted her legacy, strength and courage in starting a new club from scratch at that time.

That would not have been possible without the help and advice from our ‘Mother’ club SI Burton, represented on the evening by Sue McGlynn. Although they have now closed it was our honour to showcase their regalia, which is now in our safekeeping ready for when they reform in the future.
We enjoyed good company, great memories, excellent food and a beautiful cake made by Mistress of Ceremonies, Club Secretary Liz Leaver. We are now looking forward to the next 25 years of making a positive impact in our community for women and girls.
