Every year Medway and Maidstone member, Carol McKeough hosts a soup kitchen at her home as a fundraiser.
We welcomed three guests at our November club meeting. They were Cllr Martin Round, Mayor of Maidstone, Adam Downing, Southeastern Rail Safeguarding and Regional President Roxanne St Clair.
Six Medway and Maidstone members met up on 29 October and filled 47 shoeboxes for Christmas at a member’s home as part of the Blythswood Care Christmas Appeal.
Three members of SI Medway and Maidstone took part in the annual Sponsored knit organised by a Blythswood Care volunteer.
Medway and Maidstone Soroptimists are supporters of the Medway Hygiene Bank. In October it was National Hygiene Week from 6-12 October 2025, to raise awareness about hygiene poverty.
The Threads of Remembrance project has grown beyond expectation with more than 20,000 handmade poppies from the community – far surpassing the original goal of 11,000.
One of our members, Teresa Cambell is a volunteer at Medway Hospital every Thursday. She assists with a library trolley service for patients that has made a comeback 25 years after the original service was last seen on the wards.
As part of a Regional initiative to raise awareness about the prevention of violence against women and girls, we will be selling orange flower brooches at the Regional AGM on 20 September at £2.50 each.
On 6 September, Carol McKeough hosted a summer buffet at her home.
At the beginning of August, we saw a posting from SATEDA, local domestic abuse support service. As part of their Sharewear scheme, they were having a Rucksack Roundup, with the aim of collecting 25 rucksacks by 25 August.
