In case you missed Shelagh Fogarty on LBC highlighting the findings of a major study of Specialist Domestic Abuse Courts in the UK, you can read a summary here: https://www.lbc.co.uk/news/domestic-abuse-survivors-court-retraumatised-support/ Unfortunately, the report shows that we have not progressed as much as we hoped, and that there is still a great deal of work to do. But as Soroptimists, we will rise to the challenge.
The Specialist Domestic Abuse Courts report is now available in the Library under UKPAC for Members. The direct link is https://thehub.sigbi.org/file/6499a3f6d4bf6100085c449a
This event is being supported by our new club, SI Leamington. As you can see Dishi Atwood (Director of Membership) is their speaker and will be promoting Soroptimism. Would your members be interested in attending? Or a friend of a member?

President Liz is delighted to pass on an update from Helen Marriott of Hamlin Fistula UK. The total raised by the region, including the match giving from the Big Give campaign is £2,036 so far, which is brilliant. Thank you for all your efforts. Of the 8 clubs in the region, 3 have had a speaker from Hamlin – Stourbridge, Stratford, and Kidderminster. If other clubs are interested in hearing about Hamlin, either Helen or the Chair of Trustees would be happy to go along to the meetings and inspire them to get involved in fundraising efforts. Helen Marriott’s email address should you wish to contact her is Helen@hamlinfistulauk.org The latest Spring News Letter from Hamlin Fistula can also be viewed here Emaye – Spring 2023.
