President Judith Carder sets the New Year tone for our Region and updates us on some key events taking place.

This year our theme is “Progress not Perfection”. As part of my year as Regional President I would like to have a lasting record of members’ personal views of our theme, and of course I need your help with this. So I have asked our three elected members – Val, Melanie and Jenny – to devise a to capture our members’ visual take on the theme of “Progress not Perfection.
Progress Not Perfection…Our Region’s Change of Insignia took place on 7th November at a very well-attended informal brunch. For those of you who were unable to attend, we thought you might like to read incoming Regional President Judith Carder’s speech.

Regional President Margaret Clarke updates us on her activities. It’s been a busy couple of months!

Hello Everyone We have been beset by one or two April Showers this month. It is also the month of change at SI with thank yous to our lovely outgoing Club Presidents and welcome to our new ones. I look forward to arranging a Zoom Meeting in July with all our new Club Presidents and afterwards meeting new Club PA Officers to hear your plans and ideas.

Hello there Ladies – Stay Safe. This month I had meetings with all Club Programme Action Officers to see what you were up to – terrific stuff. I also met with all Club President to ask how Clubs are feeling at present. I was heartened to meet everyone at both meetings. I think everyone was glad to see other clubs as recompense for not being able to visit and support each other as we usually do. There was good conversation and, as you can imagine, a few laughs too. Thank you all!

On 19th November 2020 I zoomed off to SI President SHARON FISHER’s Webinar ‘STRONGER TOGETHER ON THE ROAD TO EQUALITY’ along with 400+ Sister Sorops. SHARON started by pointing out the significance 2020 – 75 Years of UN, 25 Years since the Beijing Platform for Action in 1995. One of our UN Reps BETTE LEVY spoke of the critical concerns surrounding equality issues for women, and the 5 Copenhagen Declarations. NISHA GOSH, SIGBI Director of PT & Marketing talked of the historical, systemic injustices caused by pre-conceived outdated ideas, leading to ingrained discrimination against women.
