As you might expect, as a Soroptimist August was quiet. Although I did succeed in meeting with staff from The Bridge Hotel to look at the detail of the September RCM.
Linda Davis and I met to shortlist for the Regional Programme Action Awards. Please remember that everyone attending the RCM on Saturday 23rd September will be able to vote for the overall winning project. The flyer and Booking Forms have gone out to clubs.
I also met with Susie Westwood to finalise the planning for the New Members’ Event taking place on the afternoon of Saturday 7th October. An invitation has gone out to clubs. Please ensure that any member who joined our region after April 2022 receives a copy asap.
When I wrote my last Newsletter, discussion was around the Convention in Dublin and the announcement about the cruise in Alaska for the next Convention in 2027. Whilst we haven’t really had time to digest, ask questions and apply the messages from this within our own clubs/region, we have now received the Consultation Paper from SIGBI to consider too. Change that appears somewhat radical initially, can feel unsettling.
I urge you all to read and consider the proposals to changes within SIGBI with the ‘gorgeousness at the end’ in mind.
There will be time given to discussion of the content of the paper at the RCM in September. Please come along to listen to what is said and to hear what Lindsay Green, the SIGBI Director of Programme, has to contribute to the discussion.
Do not forget the deadline for booking for the RCM is Friday 17th September 2023.
If there is anyone going to Conference in London who has not emailed me to date, please send me your name/club/where you are staying/mobile number to the address below.
Take care and stay safe.
Yours in appreciation and friendship,
Jane.
